  • General discussion

  • Hi Folks,

Microsoft Learning has posted a series of six (6) short videos on YouTube which walk you through a Microsoft exam from start to finish, including all the screens. These videos clearly show new test takers exactly what to expect when they take their first Microsoft exam. Additionally, these videos can also be a refresher for those of us who haven't taken a Microsoft Exam recently.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9ZV-K0mJP4&list=PL60EB014A2F7E943C

The 6 video titles are as follows:

    1. Introduction  (4:57)

    2. Exam Question Types  (0:43)

    3. Build List and Reorder Questions  (2:09)

    4. Active Screen Questions  (2:54)

    5. Case Study Questions  (1:02)

    6. Review Screens  (2:58)

If you are about to take your first Microsoft exam, I encourage you to view these videos. It will be time well spent. Good luck.

  • I took my 70-686 exam two weeks ago and the second video of this series that states that if there is a multiple choice question with multiple answers they will give you the number of possible answers. This is not true anymore. They like to throw out the "choose all that apply" statement. I believe I had one that had 8 or 9 possible answers to pick multiple answers from. Even if you do know the material, with a question like this it's not going to be easy.

  • Hi Nu2IT,

Yes, you are right. Contrary to what was stated in the video, we do get these "choose all that apply" questions, and this makes answering the question significantly more difficult, especially if we were inclined to guess at an answer.

This is simply another reason why we need to have a thorough understanding of our subject before we take the exam.

  • I'm having trouble loading these videos. It says the video is currently unavailable. Could they have been taken down?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Shelly,

Thanks for your post. I just checked the link and it still works perfectly.

Therefore, here is my suggestion. Ensure you are using a recent version of either Internet Explorer or Firefox with the latest Adobe Flash Player update installed. Adobe Flash Player must be installed. Then simply open this thread, and click on the YouTube link in the first post at the top of the screen, or simply click here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9ZV-K0mJP4&list=PL60EB014A2F7E943C

You should then be directed to YouTube, from where you should be able to view all the videos.

BTW, the only reason I suggested Internet Explorer or Firefox is because I tried them both and they work perfectly. However, I expect that other browsers should work just as well, but these are the two that I tried.

I hope it works fine for you now. If you still have trouble, please let me know so I can suggest a work-around.

  • Hi James,

Thanks for sharing these videos from our YouTube channel. They were made in 2011 and some content may have been updated since then.

There's a newer series of videos about exams called "Ask a Certification Expert" (ACE). See them at http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF3AEB246624F3304

If you want to learn about new exam question types and talk with our ACE team directly, please visit their First Look forum at http://borntolearn.mslearn.net/certification/f/544.aspx . Thanks!

  • Hi Veronica,

Thanks for the new information. Maybe it's time for Microsoft to update the exam walk through on YouTube to include this new information to benefit students. Thanks again for your help.
