Inactive views auto-adding filter criteria "Status Equals Active"

  CRM 2011. So everyone knows the default criteria for all inactive views is 'Status Equals Inactive'. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, random entities of mine are adding the criteria 'Status Equals Active' as a second line criteria. It has happened to ~1/10 of my entities, and I cannot think of any reason for it to happen. It makes the view pointless and produces 0 results.

  Anyone have any knowledge of this happening, or ideas of how I can begin to troubleshoot?
