Client backups fail to start; getting error message "Cannot complete the task because backup is not set up to run on this computer" RRS feed

  • Automatic client backups fail to start, and manual backups throw the error in the subject line. This is despite the fact that backups are set up.

    I've tried disabling backup and then setting it up again, but that doesn't help.

    However, disabling Windows Firewall on the server does allow to backup to run--so I'm assuming this is a firewall issue. I previously had other firewall problems on this same server, which prevented the server from seeing client computers at all, and vice versa. I was able to get past that issue by manually opening the following ports: 65500, 65510, 65515, 65532, and 6602. (In addition to the usual ones, 80, 443, etc.)

    Are there other ports specifically related to backup that I could try opening?
