  •    You may also try the following steps to reset Vista's Licensing Store in case it corrupt or it's data is messed up in some way.

    1) Open an Internet Browser window.
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3) Find the file CMD.exe
    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9) Type: net start slsvc
    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    11) Restart your computer twice.
    12) You may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate.

    Thank you,

  • Hello Lindsayprof2,

Would you happen to have a third party program installed on the computer that converts the Operating System's display language from French to English?

  •   I believe that this line: "Build lab: 6002.vistasp2_gdr.100608-0458" indicates that it's a German version of Windows. So we have a German version of Windows that is displaying what appears to be french in the Diagnostic Report

Dan's question is valid. This version of Windows does not have the funtionality to be able to change the display language.  So, if you are using a 3rd party program to change the language, it may very well cause Windows to go Non-Genuine.  (Such a 3rd party program does cause Windows 7 to go Non-Genuine).

Edit: I believe I am incorrect.  I am not sure what the 'gdr' in the Build Lab line means, but I am starting to think it does not pretain to Language version of the OS.
