Vista Activation 0x8004fe93

Question
-
Went for a walk today and when I came home I found my screen on my PC saying that all of a suuden my Windows Vista Home Premium was not genuine? I tryed to reactivate it over the net but get an activation error, so I called hte 1 -866 number did the automated thing and it verified my activation code. I put in the numbers where it asked (block a....) but that said the numbers did not match so i retried, again to no avail. It put me through to a customer service rep who again gave me the same numbers and still the same thing happened.
I can only get the limited fuctionality screen up. How do I fix this problem so I can use my computer for more than just a desk weight. Here is a copy of the diagnostic report from my system, i noticed some other people had similar problems and I tried some of the suggestions to help them but to no avail.
Thanks

Hi Ted,
Would you try the below steps and tell me if this resolves your issue?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(If you access to the start button)
1) Click the Start button
2) Type cmd in the Start Search field
3) At the top the Start window, you will see cmd.exe
4) Right Click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: cscript %windir%\System32\slmgr.vbs /ilc %windir%\System32\licensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms
6) Hit the Enter key
7) Reboot 2 times
(If you Do Not access to the start button)
1) Click the option Access computer with reduced functionality
2) A Browser will open, type: %windir%\system32 into the address field
3) Find the file cmd.exe
4) Right Click on the cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: cscript %windir%\System32\slmgr.vbs /ilc %windir%\System32\licensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms
6) Hit the Enter key
7) Reboot 2 times

3) Find the file CMD.exe
4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
9) Type net start slsvc
10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
11) Reboot Twice
12) You may be required to Re-Activate. Use the Activate by Phone method outlined below
Activate by Phone steps:
a) If you have access to the Start button: Click the Start button, and type in "slui.exe 4" in the search field and then press the "Enter" key. This will bring up the Activate by Phone dialog window. Follow the steps provided by the window. The phone activation process should only take about 6 minutes.
b) If you do not have access to the Start button: Reboot and login to Vista, a dialog window will come up. In that window, click the option "Access computer with reduced functionality". Once you do that, Internet Explorer or Firefox browser will open. In the address bar type "c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" press enter, a new window will come up, type: slui 4 and hit enterand follow steps to Activate over the Phone.
NOTE: The key to this process is that you need to talk to a Live Activation Rep! When you first call, you will be interacting with an Automated Voice, either select the option to talk to a Live Rep or if there is no option, do not enter any numbers. This should force the automated voice to tansfer you to a Live Rep.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Sorry it took me so long to reply but I went on vaction shortly after my post so yesterday was the first chance I had to try your suggestions.
This worked for me so I have printed it off and filed it incase I run into this again in the future.
Again thanks for your quick response.

Hi,
I have the same issue with my Windows Server 2008R2 (Error 0x8004FE93) while trying activation. I tried the resolution above but it did not work for me.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
