  • When Windows is installed at the factory the manufacturer's product key is
used. The one on the back of the laptop is yours and is used if
    reinstalling.

Please post your MGADiag report – it will ALWAYS report as being genuine, if the system is within the 30-day grace period after installation.

  • Windows is installed with the manufacturers key. You only use your specific
key if you have a problem and need to reinstall. The manufacturer's key
    won't work on a reinstall.

Not quite, David – it will only work if the manufacturer’s recovery disks are used, which contain the appropriate certificates to match the BIOS SLIC table.

....so please post the MGADiag report. Windows will default into a grace period if hardware changes mean that re-activation is required.

    NO!
It only offers MSE if you passed Validation.
do it again, and read what it says in the big green area.
Also – if you run another MGADiag report, the  Cached Online Validation Code will now read 0x0

    Duh?
go to the Diagnostics page – www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag – and see what it has to say
then go back to the validation page and try again

    Windows validation was interrupted.

The validation service is unable to determine whether Windows is genuine.

The version of Windows you are running is no longer available for purchase.......

this is actually freaking me out

    Duh?
go to the Diagnostics page – www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag – and see what it has to say
then go back to the validation page and try again

As I said – that is perfectly normal for when validation passes.
    You’re good to go.
