Cannot repair Windows 8

  My Windows 8 laptop crashed after installing some updates from the Microsoft website. The blue screen shows error code: 0x000000f and error msg: OS cannot load because the required file is missing or contains errors.

  File:\Windows\System32\winload.exe

  Error code: 0xc0000001

  With the recovery media, I selected "repair PC" but was unsuccessful. I do not want to lose my personal files on the harddisk if I choose to reinstall the OS. Is there any way to just replace "winload.exe" if this is the cause of problem?
