  • Yes.  One solution is to recover to the original OS and then upgrade.  If you tried the phone activation did you follow the procedure I gave you and talked to an agent?

One reason product keys from the Microsoft Store are sometimes blocks is a record of a refund request.  Contact the Microsoft Store and ask them why the key is blocked.  Accidents have happened in the past.

  • The Family Pack allows activation on three computers.  On how many computers are you using this product key?

Family Pack keys are upgrade only keys.  Have you performed a clean install on this computer?

From what store did you make this purchase?  Some resellers are illegally selling Family Packs (usually as downloads) and those keys get blocked on Microsoft's servers.  I suggest you use phone activation to test whether or not your key is blocked.

    Activate by phone.  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736912(WS.10).aspx

Or Click Start and type "slui.exe 4".  Do not respond to the automated prompts until you are asked whether you want to talk to an agent.  The agent will help you.

  • Thanks Colin for your response.

I installed the license on 2 computers. I bought the license from store.microsoft.com

I already tried the phone activation. But no luck, key is blocked.

I might have done a clean install on the computer with the license error. Could that be the problem?

So, if I understand it right, the solution would be to reinstall the old windows version, upgrade from there, and the re-activate?

The MS store people are a pain to deal with. I had the same issue with my copy coming up as refunded. Their customer service people seem only able to follow a script. It is very difficult to get to speak to anyone with any authority to make a decision on anything. Good luck!
