I have recently been working an issue where some incorrect settings on an F5 were stopping certian services from working. Mainly around multiparty conferencing but it also affect things like pointing a mediation server at a pool name for incoming calls and User logins.
F5 have released a new document for F5 configuration of OCS R2
http://www.f5.com/pdf/deployment-guides/f5-ocs-r2-dg.pdf.
One thing this document does not talk about is affinity (f5 use the term persistence) which if set incorrectly can cause all sort of issues including the conferencing issue I described above. All VIP's must be set to persistence source address for OCS R2 as described in the
MSFT OCS hardware balancer document.
F5 have done a pretty good job with this docuement all the same which is a little hard to find. A simple search in Live probably wont get you there.
For the successful settings I have used I have them listed on my blog at
http://voipnorm.blogspot.com/2009/05/f5-configuration-for-ocs-r2-enterprise.htmlHopefully this helps someone avoid the issues I had with this configuration.
Cheers
Chris
