  • Bill11UK,

You can try a little trick that has been around since Windows95.......

Whenever a program's uninstall function is not working, you can try to fix it by reinstalling the program from its CD or from its download, which theoretically should rewrite/overwrite whatever has been corrupted.  If that is successful, then the uninstall should work.  Here's a link to a site with bunches of Office trials for GB:  http://ukireland.trymicrosoftoffice.com/

Granted it's somewhat counterintuitive to reinstall a program before uninstalling it...

  • Bill,

Dan was spot on. In turn I would like to add a little more information.  There are a few dynamics happening. First you have a trial version of MS Office Suite 2007installed and running on your system.

The problem you are encountering is the trial version of MS Office 2007 which came pre-installed. You may be receiving an error status 104 which is an unknown PID. I can't tell because you didn't provide a diagnostic report results.  Trial and Beta versions of Office Suites will not pass the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) controls. In turn maybe some of the byproduct was left (after attempting uninstallation) behind which may have attributed to a false positive error 104. This can cause the other Office Suite not to pass the OGA control. In turn this may be why downloading templates isn't working. Please use the Office disk and uninstall the software. The Microsoft Office in question may need reinstallation and then uninstall using the disk. Please touch back with me and let me know if you have a beta/trial version of Office 2007.

    1) Logon to the PC that is experiencing the notifications as a user with “ADMINISTRATOR” privileges.
    2) Download the tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 click RUN.
    3) When the tool loads, click “CONTINUE”.
    4) Is the “RESOLVE” button available? If so, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool repair the issue.
    5) From the Windows tab, click the COPY button.
    6) Please reply back to this post and PASTE the entire results into reply of this post.

Please restart the computer after you uninstall the trial version of Office Suite.  Next try and activate the Office Suite which you purchased. Should this not work then try to active via the telephone. Activate Office by using the Internet, you can select the “Activate by using the telephone” option. To activate the product this way, follow these steps:

    1) Start any Office program.
    2) In the “Office Activation Wizard”, click the “Activate by using the telephone” option, and then click Next
    3) Read the “Microsoft Office Privacy Policy” page, and then click “Next”.
Note: You are not required to read the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy to continue these steps in Microsoft Office 2007. A link to the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy is provided so that you can read it at any time.
    4) In the “Select your location” list, select a country or region. Call the telephone number that is listed on line 2. The customer service agent will ask you for the installation ID and will give you a confirmation ID in return. Type the confirmation ID in the boxes provided.
    5) Click “Next”.
    6) On the “Activation Complete” page, click “Finish”.

Please reference the following KB Article should you have any problems http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us.  Here you will find links for various resolutions which you may encounter.  Also reference the following site for various telephone activation centers:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851.  Please re-post here should you need further assistance. Thank you and have a great day!

  • Hello Hasnaf,

You have posted tp a three year old thread in the wrong forum.

Please post your Windows XP WGA issue in the XP section of the forum here: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindowsxp/threads

Click on Ask a Question to start your own thread then paste in your mgadiag report,  with a short explanation of your situation.  Also does your IBM/Lenovo computer have a Certificate of Authenicity (CoA) for Windows affixed to it?  If so, what version and edition of Windows is listed on the CoA?  Does IBM and/or Lenovo also appear on the CoA?  Don't post the product key.
