Microsoft Security Essentials saying windows not genuine cannot install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been trying to install MSE but it keeps saying "windows did not pass genuine validation". However my windows is genuine as i purchased it from a major seller Digital River. I initially thought it was caused by viruses which were on my system buy they have been removed and i still get the error. I have ran the MGADiag.exe and it stated the following:

  • I have read the page George directed me to above. It says that the tool can only be given by internal support at microsoft. So should i contact them?

Yes, and make sure you mention Vistalizator.

Your system shows the signs of someone having used RemoveWAT to circumvent the Activation requirements of Windows
Please use RemoveWAT again, and use the RestoreWAT function to repair the installation (You'll have to Google for it - we are not allowed to post links to such programs here).
Then run another MGADiag report, and post the results.

ok i have ran watfix and also "sfc /scannow" in command prompt. My windows is perfectly legit as i have the genuine disc and receipt as i bought it from Digital River. I have been using it since 2009 and had no problem what so ever until recently when i had my CPU changed. I think the person who changed my CPU may have installed RemoveWAT.

This is what i get MGADiag:

Note also that Enterprise Edition is NOT available from Digital River (except possibly as a trial with a 60-day limit)!

    Ooops! - sorry - word-blindness strikes again!.
However, George is correct in his analysis of your problem, in that the file mismatches in your report are typical of (and only present in) misapplied MUI files, and 99% of the time this is the result of having used Vistalizator to install a secondary language which the system was not designed to take.

This is often the result of the vendor attempting to satisfy a customer's requirement for an English-language OS, while the original system was installed with something else (often Spanish or Portuguese - a lot of the reports appear to come from South America)
I note that your Time-zone appears to be GMT - whereabouts actually are you?

ok ive restored to an image i had made a month back before i changed my cpu. I am getting a pop up box saying your windows is not genuine  click to resolve which takes you online. I have a genuine copy of windows 7 i purchased from Digital River online and i also bought the backup disc with it in 2009.

BTW i am in the UK

    makes two of us :)
It still doesn't change the report, though - it still indicates that Vistalizator has been used to circumvent restrictions on the OS.
