Windows XP, Office validation

Question

Hi,
Not an IT guy. Took me about 20-25 minutes just to figure out how to get here. I have had XP and Office on this computer since I bought it new (3 maybe 4 years ago). I have always downloaded all the updates from microsoft and I even installed windows one care. today i get on my computer and it says that office is not genuine. I am traveling in UAE and for some reason microsoft wants me to buy office from UAE.
I ran a diagnostic that is copied below. I now have a stupid blue star in my area where the clock is.
What do I do?

Hello Michael,
As Dan mentioned unfortunatly the Office currently installed on your computer is currently non-genuine. Curious where did you purchase Office from? Please try and contact who sold you Office and request monies returned or supply you with a genuine version. Next I would recommend for you to submit a piracy report. You may qualify for a complimentry copy if Office is a high quality counterfiet copy. Visit http://www.microsoft.com/piracy . Here you will receive all the details surrounding how to file a piracy report. Also I recommend visiting http://www.howtotell.com . This site provides examples of counterfiet and genuine versions of software. You can then compare your Office disc against what you see here.
Hopefully this has added to what Dan provided earlier. Take care and thank you for visiting our site Michael.

Hello Michael perplexed,
Yes it looks like you do have a nongenuine installation of Office 2003 Pro, as shown by this snipet of the mgadiag report:

Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2

What to do? Wait until you return home from your trip to the UAE, and either participate in the Genuine Office Offer as described here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/OGAKitInformation.aspx?displaylang=en , or just purchase a Genuine copy of Office from a trusted local or online software retailer.

Hi,
I still don't understand why this is coming up now instead of when I bought it or the many times it has been validated in the past (via update?). I went to the MSFT site that gives an explanation. Supposedly my Office 2003 was assigned to a large client of MS.
This has been a major hassle and I am fed up.
I will uninstall MSOFFICE and Outlook. 3 of my friends use Open Office and Thunderbird without any problems so I will go that route instead.

Hello Michael Perplexed,
Thank you for uninstalling the nongenuine installation of Office from your computer.
The installation of Office you had was a Volume Licensing edition of Office 2003 Pro, and it was installed with a widely leaked Volume Licensing Product Key.
If you purchased that copy of Office in retail packaging with genuine-looking retail CDs thinking it was a genuine copy of Office, you may qualify for the Complimentary Office Offer as described here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/office/OGAKitInformation.aspx?displaylang=en
