  • Question

  • I am trying to Install Windows Home Server

I am posting after 5 attempts and trying several fixes

The installation appears to go OK with the main OS loaded. At the finalizing install stage I get the following error messages and the Home server Console does not seem to install,

    Error Window 1

Continuing to configure storage failed. The system cannot find the [path specified. (error code 0x80070003)

    Error Window 2

Windows Home Serer installation failed.  Do you want to view the installation file? Yes or No

    Error Window 3

Cannot Complete Windows Home Server Setup Wizard

I have tried removing all HDD's except the one the OS is going on. Disconnecting the network cable but no joy.

    System:

    Asus A7V333 m/board

    Athlon 2100XP processor

  • Try a different DVD-ROM drive.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Hi,

Is by any chance the drive you are trying to install to had an install of linux on it before?  Also the HDD could have become faulty.

    Cheers,

    Hi,
Thanks but no, never had linux on it. Also the hard drive seems ok. It was running XP before I tred to install WHS. It installs server 2003 and thats seems to be running OK its the WHS console that wont install and run.

  • I'd try Ken's suggestion of using another DVD Drive - though I've seen reports that people have got past this problem by changing the drive boot order in BIOS - making the first HD boot drive and then selecting the DVD Drive to boot from the Boot Menu (F12 key on some motherboards).

  • Hi Keith,
did you leave the DVD all the time in the drive? Is the SATA controller configured in IDE mode or in SATA mode?
Also if the DVD drive is SATA, try to attach it to one of the first 4 ports on the mainboard, if not already done.
    Best greetings from Germany
