Synchronizing to a public folder overrides shared permissions? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am synchronizing a mesh folder to a public folder on a PC.  The PC has multiple user accounts.
I'm finding that after the folder has synchronized the files in the folders have a non-shared file permissions.  Only the mesh user can access the files and not other users on the PC.
    Is this by design?
I could try to share the mesh folder with the other users on the machine (using their live ID), but some of the users are too young to join the beta program.

  • Hi,

Unfortunately this is a known issue without a workaround, but we are currently investigating and we'll make sure to let our customers know once we have resolved this problem.  We do apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Has this been resolved yet?  I am trying to sync a folder in my shared pictures library between two Windows 7 RC1 machines and the files are not inheriting the folder's permissions.  I can open the pictures but my wife is told she does not have permissions to view them  :(

    Thanks,
    Nick

  • No, this problem still exists. Unfortunately, you already know that. I have no idea when this will change. Since it has been around for quite some time, the fix is apparently not easy to implement.
