CRM Dynamics 2011 - Non-editable Yet Customizable Entity Option RRS feed

  • Question

  • My organization does not need emails defined as an activity. I have found exactly the option to make this customization, but I cannot edit it. Under the Customize the System window -> Email Options, there are check boxes for 'Define Email as an Activity Entity' and 'Display in Activity Menus'. They are both checked but cannot be unchecked and I'm certain this is the option selection that I want to disable. Why can't these check boxes be deselected? Yes, I am a system administrator. Any other ideas as to how to remove the email entity as an activity?

  • Once an entity has been enabled as an activity it cannot be changed to be a non-activity entity.  In this case, email is set as an actiivty OOB so it cannot ever be changed.  One option is to rename the acitivity to something that can be used within the organization.  The options in the UI that you are seeing were added specifically for custom activity support in CRM 2011.

    Thanks,

  • I realize this customization is not possible this way, but is there any other way to disable items in the dynamic javascript Activity menu? Does anyone know if Microsoft plans on making this OoB feature customizable in the future? It seems strange that something is completely un-customizable in 'Dynamics'...

  • I will follow up with the feature team to see how we can improve this in the future.

    Thanks for the feedback
