WHS (Original) Maximum Disk Size RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've seen several threads but more often than not they reference RAID or the posters seem to disagree with each other, so I'm posting the question again (apologies).

I have an HP EX485 with three 1-TB drives and one 750 GB drive with the OS.

Can I install three 3-TB drives and have access to all the space?

    Thanks,

    -Matt

No. Windows Home Server V1 is limited to a maximum of 2 TB per disk by the MBR style partition tables it uses.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • It's not officially supported, but it is possible through some registry edits. I have two 3TB drives installed on my WHS v1.
