CRM Update Rollup 8 & 9 not installing. Server hangs. RRS feed

  • So we have update rollup 7 installed on the server that has CRM 4.0 installed. When we try to install Update Rollup 8 OR 9, it just hangs after clicking the first 'next' button. It says 'Please Wait' and crmupdatewrapper.exe appears as a hung application in the event log. The log file for the install just grows to several gigs. Our HP  Proliant server will also begin beeping and not stop until we terminate the task. Any ideas? I could not find anything on the internet. I found a few posts on other boards with no responses. Thanks!

  • A few things you can consider trying:

    To ensure there was not some corruption in the download process, download a fresh copy of the file from the Internet and save it to the machine.  Just go with 9 you don't 8.
    Reboot your server to ensure there are some other issues causing problems for the install.
    Run the file using the 'Run as Administrator' option

  • Hi Mike,

    Take a look at your update rollup log file.  Do you see any entries in there about "can not insert null value"...? 

    We ran into a similar issues in a crm system that had invoices - installer appeared hung and log file kept on growing:
