  • Echo333,

I have bad news for you... Your Only option is to re-install windows with your original, or any XP home CD, but it must be a home CD (not pro) or your product key will not be accepted.

    Thanks Derrick,

Can I install XP Home without having to install all my additional software again (which is quite a lot)?

    Kind regards,

Unfortunately, you'll need to perform a "clean install" of Windows XP Home edition.

  • Hi,

Derrick would SFC.exe do anything for this customer?

Echo333 have you tried the following methods of changing your Product Key?>>

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328874

If you get through to support on the phone in your country,

see http://www.microsoft.com/worldwide/ then they may ask you to post proof of purchase and they can give you a new product key.

Alternatively use the Migration wizard in>>

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\usmt the full path is>>

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\usmt\migwiz.exe

to transfer your files and settings to another hard drive on the same PC (if you know how to do this ) after re-installing Windows.

    Regards,

    S_DS.
