Had to replace a failing and full hard drive. Now Vista is telling me to Activate. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I entered the product key and it tells me the key is already in use (from being registered to the old drive I guess). My background is black and there is a message in the corner saying "This copy of Windows is not Genuine". I ran the MGA Diag Tool and pasted the info below. Can you tell me how to fix this?

  • I think you simply need to use Operator activation...

    telephone activation (operator calls)

    Click on the Start button

    in the Search box, type

    SLUI   4

    and hit the Enter key

follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you
