Setting Vibrate or Silent mode turn off the music ?

Question
-
I found that setting the Windows Mobile 6.5 to Vibrate or Silent mode (under Start -> Settings -> Sound & Display) will also TURN OFF the music that was currently playing (I have already turn off the "Single volume" option).
I think this is not making sense ! While I was listening to the music with the ear piece, I would like to set the phone into vibrate or silent mode as well without affecting the music volume. If there is phone call comes while I was listening to the music, there can be a short alert sound so that I can click on the small button in the ear piece to pick up the phone !- Changed type Jack Cook - aka Help_LineMVP, Moderator Thursday, January 14, 2010 2:50 PM

I have an HTC Imagio (Whitestone). I don't have Start > Settings > Sound. Only Sounds and Notifications. I've got CE OS 5.2.21849. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue on this Phone/Build? I use my phone to play music a lot, but I want my ringer permanently set to vibrate, so having the two bound to each other is VERY annoying. I would be happy even for just the applicable registry keys so I can manually set them if there is no way to access this in the menus.
Thanks!
Matthew
Hi Matt
I have the Imagio as well and think it is one of the best devices I have ever used.
if you go to Start > Settings >Sounds and Notifications and then click on the Notifications Tab then on the drop down for Ring Type for the event Phone:Incoming Call, you can set it for VIBRATE only.
Now you can listen to music and adjust the sound using the volume control on the side and calls received will only vibrate.

What device do you have? There are two volume controls: 1) System and 2) Ring. If you set Ring to mute or vibrate, you can still hear other sounds, including media player.
I notice that HTC has set the volume settings on my WM6.5 HTC Touch Diamond2 so that both these volume controls are set to be controlled at the same time as if there is only one volume control setting on the device (not how I want volume to be handled). Before I was able to manage the System and Ring volume controls separately, I had to turn that HTC setting off. If you've got an HTC phone, try tapping Start > Settings > Sound > turn OFF the Single Volume option. While on this screen, you can also scroll down and change the Ring Volume and System Volume to suit you.
If your device has a button that you can use to change the volume on the device, thebn you should also notice that two tabs will be available there so you can change the System or Ring volume there too.

HTC Touch HD2 ! When I set the phone to Vibrate or Silent mode, the "Ringer" and "System" setting will be turn to 0% ! If after setting to Vibrate or Silent mode and I manually set the "System" to say 80%, the mode will be switch back to Normal automatically !
PS: I have ALREADY TURN OFF the single volume option, please read my original message !Wednesday, January 6, 2010 6:32 AM -
After turning off the single volume option, did you also change the volume settings on that same page? When I just turned off the single volume option and then attempted to change the volume with my volume button the two controls still worked in concert with each other as if they were still set up under the single volume option.

If you have an HTC Touch HD2 mobile phone, please try it yourself to see if you were able to set the phone into vibrate or silent mode and can still listen to the music. If so, please let me know how to do the setup, otherwise I think Microsoft still consider to provide a solution in the future Windows Mobile OS !Monday, January 18, 2010 9:38 AM -
If you can't do this on an HTC Touch 2, then I'd say it is an HTC issue and not a Microsoft issue since it is possible on other windows mobile devices. There could be something in the HTC interface that prevents the sound controls to work properly.
Have you contacted HTC to let them know about this issue?

I am using HTC Touch HD2 or HTC HD2 for short, don't mixed it up with HTC Touch 2.Tuesday, January 19, 2010 4:24 AM -
Okay, well whichever HTC device you are using, the problem seems to be a problem with that device and not a Microsoft issue.
