New Motherboard RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that variations of this have been asked, but I need to replace the motherboard in my server as it is failing.  They no longer make the exact board so I will be using a more current one. Setting aside the activation issues, if I hook up the drives in the same order as the old system, will this work?  Do I have to do or should I do a Server Restore even if the chipsets are compatible?  Any problem with the data?  Any insight would be helpful.

  • Personally I would perform a server reinstallation if for no other reason that to ensure you wont experience any problems later on down the line because of changing the MB.

  • Thanks for the reply.  That is what I ended up doing.  DId a server reinstallation and had no issues.  No problem with activation either.  Thank you all for the replys.
