    The installed copy of Office 2007 Professional Plus is a nongenuine installation because the Volume Licensing Key (VLK) has been blocked.  Keys are blocked by Microsoft for many reasons, such as the key has been  lost, stolen, compromised, or the Volume Licensing Agreement has expired.  Also, if Microsoft notices a pattern of misuse, ie, many more installations of the key than covered by the Agreement, Microsoft may also block further use of the key.

    If your use of Office 2007 Professional Plus is associated with a larger business, school or governmental entity, please contact the IT department for more information.

    If your use of Office 2007 Professional Plus is associated with small business use and you do not have a current Volume Licensing Agreement, or if you purchased this software from a store, a vendor, an online software seller, or an online auction, or downloaded it online thinking it was an individual copy of Office 2007, you may have inadvertently purchased counterfeit software and/or materials.  Please gather your materials, visit www.howtotell.com, and compare your materials to the examples posted there.  If it turns out that you have counterfeit materials, please follow the steps at that site to submit a piracy report.  You may also want to visit the seller to demand the Genuine Microsoft software you paid for.


    Regarding the failure reported by the online diagnostic, this error typically arises when security software installed on your computer such as a firewall or other antimalware program, does not permit full communication between the computer and Microsoft's servers.  Please check the configuration of any such software that may be installed on your computer and try again.
