Format for exclusions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I use SyncToy a lot for backing up my files, media collections, and occasionally transferring files from one PC to another.

However I often end up with lots of hidden and system files. that I don't need in the backup such as thumb.db, Recycle Bin,  if copying a root drive, and numerous others. I can tick box for hidden and system files as some of the data I copy are folders containing software which has executables, .dlls, ini files etc.

My question is how do I enter these correctly in the exclusions box. Should they be separated with a space, a semi colon or a comma? Also should a space be left between the preceding comma/semi colon and next entry?

Also is it possible to set up an exclusion list that SyncToy reads to avoid having to enter exclusions in every each folder pair?

    Many thanks
