  • you could reinstall using manufacturers recovery media .no key is necessary as it is embedded in the media. you can use the recovery partition or order recovery media from your manufacturer.

it's also possible (if you can take a photo of the sticker) to get assistance from an Activation center -
when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.

Be polite, but persistent - they should be able to help.

you could also try a bright light and a good magnifier.

    characters not used:

    E,U,I,O,A,S,L,Z,N, and 1,0

    easily confused: B and 8, G and 6, G and C

you can also purchase a new license

  • looks like you installed using a retail disk with the OEM SLP key. the OEM SLP key only works with the manufacturers recovery media.

you will have to change your key to the one on your COA.

click start, type slui 3, press enter

  • Thanks for your response George, unfortunately the key has rubbed off of the sticker underneath (a common problem in laptops!) - my only option to install a new key I suppose?
