How can you copy a Live Writer configuration from 1 machine to another

    Question

  • I am wanting to be able to copy the live writer configuration (at least for some blog accounts) from a desktop to a laptop.  How can this be done?
    TIA

  • I would recommend my backup utility at http://wlwbackup.codeplex.com/.

  • hi, scott: i've tried using your utility to no effect.  i'm signing in as administrator, etc, but when i restore, after it completes the process, nothing has been done.  i open wlw and nothing has changed.  could it be because i'm trying to move stuff from an older version of wlw to the latest (which i don't like, btw....)

  • Yes, it will most likely be because of that. One suggestion I could make then is to install this http://cid-fabdddc5cad93494.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/LiveWriterBackupSetup2010b.msi on your original machine (the one with the old writer). This is the original backup tool. You can then use the newer backup tool on the new pc to restore the settings how the new live writer expects them.

  • nope, that didn't do it either.  on the beta forum, i've put out a call to try to find a copy of that older version.  if i can find that and install it, maybe the program will work then.

failing that, do you know of any kind of workaround?
