Folder not accessable RRS feed

  • Question

  • Why is it that whenever one of my computers backs up to the central backup device, the folder where the back for that PC, ie NOTEBOOK, is not longer accessable.  The only way I can make it accessable again is to go to the hard drive settings and re-grant the permissions to the sibling and child folders.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Thanks for clarifying. This is normal. OneCare protects the backup. There is no reason for you to browse the backup folder structure. Restore takes place from within OneCare.

  • Can you explain what you mean by your post? Do you mean that you are unable to browse the backup destination folder tree in Windows Explorer? Or do you mean that backup fails until you reconfigure the Share permissions?

  • Sorry, I meant the first scenario above.  After a successful backup, I'm not able to open the backup folder without resetting the permissions.
