Advice on certification path

Question
-
Hi ,
I just finished my Post graduate diploma course in Cyberspace Security after completing my B.E (IT) . And I recently got Comp TIA Security + certified. This was the only entry level exam that would strengthen my basics in Info.Security.
My major area of interest is Information Security. I need suggestions so as to what certification path should I follow so as to reach my ultimate objective of being a Information Security Consultant.
I'm thinking of writing MCSE but I dont have a clear idea. I was told at my intership( 4 months) to take MCSE exam, but then I read at MS website that the candidate needs 1 yr of work exp to write MCSE. So being a fresh graduate,am I not eligible for MCSE or any of Microsoft's Security related certifications.
Thank You.

There is no requirement to take the MCSE Miicrosoft exam. There is only a recommendation. Although it would be good for you to have a solid foundation of the Windows Server family, functions, and technology; I don't feel that an MCSE would do your goal in Security justice. You might want to look into the CISSP certification sponsored by (ISC)2.
Also check out GIAC and some of Cisco's security certifications.
Hope that helps.

The requirements for Microsoft Exams aren't set in stone. You don't actually have to have a years experience with Windows Server to take the MCSA exams, although it is recommended that you do, for the sake of experience.
There Microsoft Security based certifications can be found here:
