Since installing OneCare on both my Vista equipped desktop (New-Guy), and my XP equipped laptop (SAGER_LAPTOP) it seems that the computers on my network are multiplying!!  Now on both of these computers on my home network, my desktop is available twice, (same one) and so is my desktop computer with "oc" tacked on to the end of it's name.  But they all lead to the same place.  I made no changes to my network.  Admittedly new to the Vista OS.

i.e.: The list of available computers should read:  New-Guy

                                                                           SAGER_LAPTOP

    But it currentl;y reads:  New-Guy

                                      New-Guy

                                      New-Guy-oc

                                      SAGER_LAPTOP

I can't figure how to rid myself of these redundancies.  Any help is appreciated.

  • With OneCare 2.0 beta, there will be some new entries in your network list due to the way OneCare and Vista interact and how OneCare enables Printer Sharing. That doesn't explain how you are seeing two identical entries for the PC, though. I believe the 3rd entry, with "oc" tacked on is due to the sharing thing.
