Server Monitoring-Temp & Fans

Question

In the HP implementation of WHS there is a facility to monitor and alert on Server Temperature and Fan Speed. As a suggestion it would be helpful to have such a feature in WHS. I have not seen any add-ins that provide this functionality. Can we get this into the queue?

I totally understand the issue of hardware dependence. Makes a lot of sense.
Many thanks,

This sort of monitoring is extremely dependent on hardware. Microsoft is unlikely to include it in the base product, since to do so that product will need to be able to fully support an extremely wide variety of hardware. They leave it to OEMs to do this, because an OEM solution will be a single controlled hardware platform. That said, could you submit your product suggestion on Connect ?
Also, the HP solution was unreliable and eventually they disabled some of the monitoring.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Proposed as answer by Jonas Svensson -FST- Saturday, May 15, 2010 3:09 PM

I'd agree with Ken on this, it's very hardware dependent. That beingsaid, it should be possible for any OEM to monitor their ownhardware's temperature, etc. Just about every mobo manufacturer has anapplication that does it. But getting the information into WHS/Vail isthe issue, and this is something that I don't see coming from MS, butas a rich area for third party or OEM add-ins.

Not supported I know, but Speedfan works fine on Vail. The only problem is that you need to RDP in to set it up.
