WLW creates a new images album at random? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  •  When I paste a local image into a post that i'm creating, WLW uploads it to a photo album on my space called "blog images".  This is the expected behavior.  However, I've noticed that it will sometimes make a new album for images.  Of course the name is exactly the same.  So now I get to choose between keeping several redundant albums with the same name, manually downloading and uploading my images to put them all in one album and updating every single post that references them, or just letting the old posts fester with broken images.  This might be a spaces thing, but it would be nice if something were smart enough to recognize when an album already exists.

  • Sorry we haven't replied directly to your post sooner.  And sorry about this issue, we recognize this is a painful situation currently.  We'll be looking to address this in the next release.

One thing that concerns me is that you say that there is a second album created with the same name.  Is it possible that they have slightly different names?

My Blog Photos and Blog Images

My Blog Photos gets created when you post to your blog using the Spaces web form.
Blog Images gets created when you post to your Space using Writer.

I agree, this is really icky right now and we hope to make this better moving forward.

  • This is happening to me too, but for me it's happening every time and not just at random. Publishing a blog to Spaces with Live Writer that has an embedded picture will produce another "blog images" folder and all image links from the old "Blog Images" folder will be broken. Funny thing is, if you upload all your blogs very quickly, all the images will go in the same folder, but if you wait even a few minutes, a new folder will be created. For right now I'm uploading the blog with Writer without the photos and then I'll go into Spaces and add the photos from there. Spaces adds the photos to the existing "blog images" folder correctly. The original poster had this problem a number of months ago, hopefully this gets fixed in the final release. This was happening before and after the big Windows Live update the other day too.
