  •   Also I haven't been able to find a non automated number.

If the automated phone prompt doesn't give you an option to talk to a Live Activation Rep, don't enter anything into the prompt. This should force the prompt to transfer you to a Rep.  The way I am seeing it is the Non-Genuine message should go away once you re-activate.

If that doesn't resolve the issue (or if the rep is unable to help resolve the issue) create a (no cost) support request at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactwga for further assistance.

    Thank you,

  • To help us analyze and troubleshoot a non-genuine notification issue you may be experiencing, please download and run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool

Once you run the tool, click on the Continue button, then click on the Copy button and paste the report into your post, along with your question.

  • Hello hfear,

The Licensing Data section is showing a Data Invalid error.

This suggest that Wndows 7's Licensing Store may have a problem of some kind. Follow the below steps to force Windows to recreate (and repopulate the data in) a new Store.

    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc   (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection servive may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS

  • I just tried that and now I get another error saying that the product key is invalid and then I retried entering the product key again and I get error 0x8007000D again.

  • Hello Hfeahr,

What is the exact error message you are receiveving?  Is it:

“The activation server determined that the specified product key could not be used.”

In addition, what happens when you attempt to Activate by Phone?

    Thank you,
    Darin MS

  • I only received the error message once right after trying to activate Windows after forcing it to create a new store.  I know it said something about my product key being invalid and it had another different error code but i accidentally closed it and it never showed up again.  As far as activating it on the phone, I'm not sure if I can.  When I go to use the automated phone activation window I get an error then when I continue to the window that shows Step 1, 2, 3, it shows the toll-free number, it has no numbers under step 2.  Also I haven't been able to find a non automated number.

Why did you change the Key - what was wrong with the original one? Is this
    an Acer freebie Upgrade key?

Is probably the source of your problem...
Make sure that teh Software Licensing Service is running, then try the steps
below that force Windows to recreate (and repopulate the data in) it's
    Licensing Store.

    5) Type: cd
    %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may
be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may
occur automatically (use the original key if you have it - if not, use the
    key above)
