VBS script not running when scheduled without user logged on RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have a vbscript which generates a word document to create drp doco

i run the script manually and word opens, populates with data and saves as normal

i add to a scheduled task

if i have it running only with user logged on - it triggers, opens word, populates and saves and closes correctly

if i trigger it to run whether or not user logged on, i see in task manager it loads up word documents but my logs show it doesn't save the document

     Saving Document
    4198 -- Command failed (\\network\Servers\Document.doc)
     Would not save to \\network\Servers\Document.doc
     Did you specify a path?

    also error local drive saving

    4198 -- Command failed (C:\Folder\Document.doc)
     Would not save to C:\Folder\Document.doc
     Did you specify a path?

task is being run as domain admin account

  • In general it is difficult to automate Office applications using the task scheduler as they are designed to be run interactively.

This is not the right place for this question, though (this is a scripting forum, not an MS Office automation or task scheduler support forum). And before you ask, no, I don't know where you should ask about it. I would recommend searching for a more appropriate forum.
