Microsoft Update fails and gets in a loop RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I try to run a manual update and it says it has to validate windows.  It then errors that saying that if the active x bar doesn't appear to validate the optional way.  It validates and says it's sending me back to the update page and this continues over and over.  I ran the diagnostic and it hangs at the windows activex line.  All others pass.  I downloaded the validation diagnostic tool and it works.  Here is the result

Why am I caught in this loop?  I've emptied the temporary files, cookies, history - everything.  I've restarted several times and nothing works.
