System Recovery Discs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I tried to use System Recovery CDs to recover my brother's PC, but there is this message saying: the PC is not supported by the System Recovery Dsics. You will not be able to continue to recover this system with these discs. What does it mean by that??  He did send for repair of motherboard sometime ago, and the shop did instal Window Vista for him.  Does it mean that that shop is not using geniue Vista so my brother cannot use his S.R. CDs to do anymore recovery?? Please advise...Thanks

What is the make and model of machine?
Was the repair carried out by the manufacturer?
What is the licensed version and edition of Windows on that machine *according to the COA sticker on the case*?

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

  • Also, was the System Recovery disk created from or included with your brother's PC? Or is the recovery disk from some other PC?
