Click to call (RCC) OCS from inside applications RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I wonder with RCC mode in OCS. Can you use click to dial from text numbers inside MS application such as MS-word or Outlook. The goal is to be able to click to call from any text numbers which appears on email message in Outlook. Example, if I got an email message which include tel phone number on the body message, I want to right click and call out using RCC sending call to my Cisco IP phone ( with CUPS acted as RCC gateway). Is that supported?.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Yes, it is supported. In office 2007, it's done through "smart tags". For example in MS Word 2007:

    1. Click on the office button (upper left hand)
    2. go to word options
    3. Click on "Proofing"
    4. Click on "AutoCorrect Options"
    5. Go to the "Smart Tags" tab
    6. Check "Label text with Smart Tags"
    7. Check "Person NAme (Outlook contact)"
    8. Check "Telephony Number"
    9. To make the change effective in your current doc, click "Recheck Document"
    10. Click OK until the windows all close
    11. Look at your doc & see that a phone number like "312-555-1212" now has a dotted line underneath it
    12. Hover your mouse over the number - a little "i" icon pops up. When you click on it, you have the option to call.

Not sure how this works in Word 2003 etc. but it definitely works for OL2007 and Word 2007.
