How to Create a WCF Service and Host it RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to SharePoint and WCF. I am working on how to host a WCF service on a SharePoint 2010 server that communicates to a SQL server. I am following the guide below (generally not literally) and when it comes to running the WCF Test Client, I am not sure how to test that, seeing as I am referring to a database.

Are those the right steps, or is the procedure different? How do I use the WCF Test Client if the service I'm creating communicates with SQL databases?

Guide is on c-sharpcorner dot com called Creating WCF Service, IIS Hosting, and Consuming

  • Hi Mr. Christopher Lee,

Actually this forum is to discuss the VS IDE usage, based on your description, this issue would be related to the WCF, if so, I suggest you post this issue to the WCF forum, and there you would get dedicated support.

  • Hi Christopher,

The guide you mentioned looks quite comprehensive to me contains every detail steps you need.

Can you elaborate more details on what problem you have? in which part? and probably with more details in terms of exceptions and screenshots? It would help to troubleshoot it in a better way.

  • Hello,

In addition to Jack's suggestion, you could ask in the Sharepoint 2010 forums
