Vertical Spacing of Signature RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • When I compose a post I always try to remember to put a newline at the end, in order that the signature is not scrunched up on the message content. However this is easy to forget, and it is not always easy to check whether you have done it already, because the composition window often seems reluctant to show where the end of the content is.

So sometimes I end up with no spacing, and sometimes too much.

Would it be possible for the software to look for the last non-whitespace character, and insert a single newline before the signature (discarding any newlines the author might have inserted)?

A picky little thing, I know...

  • I wholeheartedly agree since although a little thing....it bothers me as well. Adding a line break within the signature does not help either which would have been an easy and quick workaround.

  • I'm curious if it would be better to do something similar to Outlook, where the signature is just injected into the body of the editor whenever you start a new thread or reply and the cursor is placed on the line above it.

That way you'd always see how it looks and can change/remove if you wanted before submitting the thread.

    thoughts?

That would be fine also. Better even, because right now when you post (or reply) the signature is not visible, but when you edit it is visible. Inconsistent behavior. In NNTP, the signature is part of the post, and that works fine.

NoBugz had a post a while back about whether the signature was part of the post or not.
