How to update field for entire table in CRM Online? RRS feed

  • I have a custom ID field that relates to 3 external database that is included with all Leads,Contacts and Accounts in CRM.  Since we have 3 separate databases being imported, there are duplicates associated with this ID field.  In an effort to create a work around, we would like to add a character to the beginning of this field that would designate what database it came from to prevent duplicate entries as we use this field for duplicate look-ups during importing.  It is finding duplicates that are not really duplicates.  We have each group of records separated by business unit within CRM, so we can select the existing records using this manner.

    Can someone assist with a script to update this field based on the selection of records in a business unit and it must be noted that it is CRM Online.

    In short, all records with Business unit "X", update custom ID from "123456" to "X123456", next record "123457" "X123457" etc.
