"Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of windows is not geniuine " Error for Toshiba Laptop RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a Toshiba Laptop around 3 years ago with Windows 7 Ultimate pre installed.  A few weeks ago, it started reporting that copy was not genuine. The Windows update is also not working and hasn't for several months; however, the it appears that Win7 SP1 has been installed. As suggested on the forum, I went to the Microsoft online validation website to download the software to validate.  Unfortunately I got an "Update installation failed.  Error information - 0xC8000247" error message. i had downloaded and ran MGADIag tool and attached the output below.I'd be happy to run any additional utilities if needed.  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  • Your install is counterfeit.  It is the stolen Lenovo key that can never ever be activated.  You need to purchase a legal copy, format your hard drive and reinstall.  Be sure to back up your data first.

  • If you do check with the vendor, demand a full refund...do NOT accept the offer for an alternate activation key.  They are obviously disreputable.
