OGA Says my copy of Office is not Genuine, but it is Genuine. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, about a month ago, maybe more, the computer I use at my church every sunday started complaining that Office 2007 is not Genuine. The computer itself is several years old, and has had Office 2007 for a long time, possibly since it was bought. Also, other computers at the church use the same copy of Office, and they have no problem. Why did this all of the sudden just pop up?

  • Hello MichaelTheMahn,

Your Toshiba Satellite computer currently has a Volume Licensing installation of Office Enterprise 2007, and this installation is reporting as Genuine.

However, with Volume Licenses, regardless of what is reported by the mgadiag utility, the installations of  Office Enterprise 2007 that your church is using are Genuine only if the church has a current and valid Volume Licensing Agreement with Microsoft.

You should first locate your organization's Volume Licensing Agreement for Office Enterprise 2007 and ascertain the product key issued to your organzation.  If you need assistance with your Volume Licensing Agreement, click on the "Contact a Specialist" link on the right side of this page:  http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/.  Then you should run a keyfinding utility on each computer to ascertain the product key used to do each installation.  If there are any computers with Office installations done with any product key other than that issued on the Volume Licensing Agreement, then you should change the wrong VLKs to the correct VLK shown on your Volume Licensing Agreement.  This MS KB tella you how to change the VLK"  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895456
