Office Communications Server Specifications RRS feed

  • Question

  •  We are currently costing Office Communications Server for our organisation, but Im struggling to find anything which states suggested server specifications.

    I'm looking to purchase the server from Dell, and initially it will only be supports messaging using Office Communicator for around 1,000 clients.  There will be a small amount of video and audio conferencing (person to person).

    Long term we will be looking to integrate with our VOIP network, phone access to email and web conferencing.

    Could anyone advise if there is a ticksheet for a server specification?

    Could I also confirm if purchasing the following licenses would cover us initially;

    Office Communications Server Enterprise x 1

    Office Communications Server Standard CAL (x1000 staff)

    Many thanks for any advice which can be offered.

  • The OCS 2007 Planning Guide outlines the hardware requirements starting on page 79 under the Server Platform Requirements section.

    For example, the listed requirements for a single consolidated Enterprise Server are:

    CPU      Dual processor, dual core  2.6 GHz +
    Disk     2 x 18 GB
    Cache    1 MB L2 per core
    Memory   4 GB
    Network  GBit NIC

  • Hi,

    I'm also looking forward to this question, is there any pratical experience that can share with us. I will choose to deploy ocs consolidated deployment with least A/V conferencing. I have also study the planning guide but don't know under what assumption. Is there any body can share this experience with us. Thanks
