buffer overrun detected RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

    keep getting a message flashing up saying;

     a buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the programes internal state. The programe cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

    from what i can gather looking around on the net this is a real pain to get rid of.

    Anyone got any ideas on how I can remove it? and is it safe to be online whilst i've got it?

    Thanks,

    Leanne

  • Hello, Leanne. First of all, sorry for the late reply. The forums were in pretty bad shape yesterday, making it nearly impossible to reply and even navigate.

    The popups sound like you are indeed infected by some sort of spyware or malware. The internal errors are another issue. Are you using OneCare and this error is being reported by OneCare? I've not heard of this before. What program is producing this dialog?

    If you are using Windows Live OneCare and you have been infected, but OneCare did not detect or cannot remove the malware, please contact support to report this and for help with removal.

    If  you are not using Windows Live OneCare, you are off topic for this forum. This is not a general forum for viruses, spyware, or Windows Help. For help with spyware issues, you may want to try the forums here:
