I agree that the high sampling rate of the sweep panorama modes does a great job at minimizing parallax errors. I might point out two advantages of the ICE approach:
1) ICE has intelligent seam selection so scene motion is handled reasonably well, for example see this video and result from ICE:

2) You aren't limited to a single sweep in ICE. If you've missed data below or above the initial sweep you can continue shooting video to capture this and you'll get an extended vertical field of view.
