    Hi,

We are moving and I am just curious if there is a special procedure to shutdown

the drives so they don't get damaged in the travel?

    Thanks...

Not really. Just shut down the computer as normal and ensure you don't jar it during the move.

If it's easy to do, like the HP server, you could pull the drives and put them in a separate transit box with plenty of padding.

  • Colin,

I was thinking about removing the drives. Glad to hear I wasn't out of my mind on this.

    Thanks for the quick feedback.

  • Since the drives are hard mounted (I assume) you do not have to remove the drive simply pad the the entire server in proper packaging to absord shock.  Padding the unit or drive will protect but overall protecting the entire server is heck of allot better.  I have done it several times with no issues.  My .02c
