  • The Key in use is a Volume License Key

    The error code tends to indicate that Access has been denied to the registry key containing the necessary data to be able to check the Key.

    You need to contact the System Administrator for assistance, as it's likely that you won't have permissions to be able to correct the problem.

  • Typically it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

  • I was able to check the permissions on that key and it is identical to another machine. Is the something else I should check?

  • You should be able to bring up the Activation Status Window by running SLUI.exe. (Software Licensing User Interface).

    Press the Win Key + R and enter SLUI.exe and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
