    Can someone recommend me a MOBO and CPU for a new server build

  • I don't think anybody can without knowing more about your needs.
    If you use Windows Home Server without any "unsupported" features, only for backup and shared folders access, low end hardware (Celeron CPU or low end Core2Duo and simple Intel Motherboard - here I would recommend one with VGA onboard) will be enough. Although you will need drivers working for Windows Server 2003. Also the available ports to connect harddisks are dependend from your needs and amount of data to be stored.

  • I will be using it to hold all my DATA which is made up from 12 varying size disks.
    I currently have a WHS server which is causing me no end of problems and as such I would prefer to just buy tried and tested hardware that will give me as little of a headache as possible.
    Would need to have as many PCI ports as possible due to the controller cards or have support on board for over 10 SATA ports as my optical drives are SATA too.
