If I try to update Windows Defender now, I get the following error code: 0x80240029

Please post the results of the WGA diagnostics tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012) with any new question.
Thank you!

According to my security alert for Windows Defender the last definition version that I have is 1.17.2520.1 created on April 19 2007. Today I am notified by my PC that I must check for new definitions but no updates are able to be received. The message gives this Error Code 0x80240029.
I have run your diagnostic tool and here are the results:

Trying to even find your support forum and then figure out what to do has been problematic and I have had to manually copy out the above data.
How do I resolve the problem since the malware/spyware is "out of date"?

it seems that even linking is not working on microsoft forums.

Try this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934562
Because this forum is dedicated to validation issues, you’ll need to contact outside support for the expertise necessary to troubleshoot any further Windows Defender issues. You can do so by posting or searching in the Vista pubic newsgroups, found here: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx or by following this link to Product Support Services. Microsoft has a 90 day free support period that starts on the day you first acquire Vista.
If you bought your computer pre-installed with Vista either from a computer store or an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) like Dell or Gateway, you’ll need to contact them for support.
