CRM 3.0 : how to install crm on another instance

Hello,<o:p></o:p>

I'm trying to install CRM 3.0 on 2
servers:
- SRV1- crm server
- SRV2 - crm server
- SQL - sql server with 2 instances : default and SQL\VALID<o:p></o:p>

1) SRV1
I installed without problem the CRM on default instance SQL<o:p></o:p>

2) SRV2
I can't install the CRM when i'm writing SQL\VALID on the step where we must
choose the database.

Why ?
It's not a DNS problem.

Is CRM allow crm database on another instance that the default instance ?<o:p></o:p>

yes it is possible to install crm on other instance which is not default

please check this might be the error you are facing http://community.dynamics.com/product/crm/crmtechnical/b/cognettacloud/archive/2012/01/26/crm-2011-installation-error-sql-instance-name-must-be-the-same-as-computer-name.aspx

or you can ignore the check by setting this registry

Hi,

CRM 3.0 Setup only support one Intance of SQL (the Default Instance). However, you can try to disable the Check's on the Install wizard.

On Regedit under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM key, add the DWORD "IgnoreChecks" and set value in 1. This permit ignore the checks and let you go on with install
