Host in IIS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have created a website which consumes SDK methods for create, update and delete records for my custom entity. It is working fine. Now I have host this website in CRM website. When I am trying to run my application  'home page' only displayed. No other functionalities (like create, update and delete) are not working. What could be the reason?.

  • Hi,

If you deploy a web application on the same web site as Dynamics CRM you must be careful with your requirements since you should not modify the web.config or the way Dynamics CRM web application work. Additionally, you must follow this guidelines to use the web service http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc151050.aspx

There might be a variety of reasons for your application to not work fine, like if it needs to reference dlls that are not on the GAC and are not being referenced by the CRM web.config. If you are trying to use asp.net ajax which is not configured on the CRM web application... etc.  Do you get any error message? Can you describe what is exactly not working?

  • Hi Golden Fish,

Could you please catch the soapException and post the error here?

Check this error, this is very common error which occur while hosting website IIS.

  • Hi Marco and Gholap,

I have created a web site with some fields and 3 buttons(add, update, delete). I have created custom entity records by using this website. Its working fine in .net. I have created a new virtual directory for existing 'CRM' website in my Development Server. After hosting my website in CRM website, the website is opened but When I am trying to create a record by clicking add button i am getting the following error (please follow that url). Not only add no operation is not working only home page is displayed. What could be the reason?.

  • Hi GF,

You should enable the developer errors to get more info and details about the exception being thrown. To do that you can use the CRM 4 Diag Tool http://blogs.msdn.com/benlec/archive/2008/03/04/crmdiagtool4-for-microsoft-crm-4-0-has-been-released.aspx

Once you have enabled the option to show developer errors you will se the exception being raised by your code and we will be able of helping you more.

Check also this blog post that discusses some aditional configuration that you need on your web.config when using the option of creating a virtual directory under the CRM Web Application as you've done. Basically, you need to unload some modules http://blogs.msdn.com/cesardelatorre/archive/2007/11/14/how-to-deploy-your-own-asp-net-application-within-the-same-dynamics-crm-4-0-iis-website.aspx

    Hope it helps
