libcurl.dll & OneCare Live RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Ever since I installed OneCare Live I am having trouble updating an application that installs libcurl.dll.  Do any of the AV or Firewall services (or anything else) of OneCare Live block or prevent the deployment of libcurl.dll?

    Thanks,

  • OneCare's processes (AV &/or Firewall) could be blocking the execution of the libcurl.dll preventing the application updates. Not sure which process though.

    Some other things to check:

Have you run a scan recently to detect any viruses or spyware?

Have you checked under the "Quarantine" section of the "Virus & Spyware" tab for any listings?

Do you see any programs being blocked under the Firewall Advanced Settings/Programs tab?

Are you running any P2P applications?

  • Hi Craig,

libcurl.dll is a component of the Google Earth 3D application.  OneCare's firewall could be blocking the libcurl.dll service thinking it's a form of spyware.   Here's a way to check to see if the application is being blocked.

    1.  Open up the Windows Live OneCare

    2.  Click on "Change Settings"

    3.  Under the "Firewall" tab click on "Advanced Settings"

    4.  Scroll Down the program list.

    5.  Check to see if "Google Earth" is listed under the "Programs" tab.

    6.  If Google Maps is selected as "Block" click on "Allow"

    7.  Click on "Apply"

    8.  Click on "OK"

    Hope this helps.

  • Informative but not applicable ... google earth is not blocked.

    Any other ideas?
